It's always 1910 at this East Houston Street knish shop. Before Yonah Schimmel moved into an actual brick and mortar store on East Houston, the business began as a pushcart operation in 1890. Today, it remains a beloved institution, serving up traditional knishes to locals and tourists alike.

Chef Simon Webster has taken the classic knish and given it a modern twist. With a background in fine dining, Webster brings a gourmet touch to the humble pastry, experimenting with new flavors and ingredients to create unique and delicious combinations.

The menu includes his most popular knish varieties, such as pastrami potato and grilled onion. He doesn't have kosher certification, but said that all of his ingredients are carefully sourced and prepared to ensure the highest quality.

WYOMING — Leona I. Knish, 95, of Wyoming, died Dec. 25, 2017. A private Mass of Christian Burial was held in St. Monica's Parish, West Wyoming. Leona was known for her homemade knishes, which she lovingly prepared for family gatherings and community events.
